Our Approach

In recent years the team at Toppers have gone on a journey of discovery to develop a clear vision of who we are, what we are about and what we aim for. From being inspired by Reggio, in the moment planning, curiosity approach and other current early years theorists… But what we always come back to is FAMILY. At Toppers, we have true family values at the heart of all our policies and procedures. We care about each child, their likes, dislikes, learning styles, development needs, backgrounds, ambitions and future. We care about the environment we provide, encouraging children to take responsibility for the environment around them and to take ownership of what they want their environment to look like.

As we have always tried to encourage children to become confident, capable and independent learners to prepare them for the world and society around them, going that extra mile is something we do naturally with great pride. From having links with local primary schools, organising PE lessons with Blackburn Rovers coaches, to cookery lessons with the local restaurant we strive to provide opportunities that give children the best start possible.

We are not just any nursery, we are Toppers Day Nursery. A nursery inspired by theorists, led by the ideas and interests of our children. Without each unique child in our nursery, our rooms would be empty, our walls would be bare and the rooms would be bland.

It is our children that lead our curriculum, and it is our fantastic, creative and caring team of practitioners that listen to their voices, hear their questions and go on a discovery of learning and creativity with them to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding to prepare them for their journey as resilient, confident and independent learners.
