Our curriculum…

At Toppers, we focus on the individual needs and interests of each child, encouraging them to lead their own learning and development. All of our keyworkers follow the children’s interests to inspire a child centred, creative and challenging curriculum.

Planning is used as a tool to support each child’s development using practitioner knowledge to create purposeful and meaningful next steps tailored to each child’s needs, whilst the children’s interests, styles of learning and development needs inform our environment to deliver a personalised learning curriculum for each child. 

Key workers use their daily observations and termly assessments to ensure children are challenged and inspired whilst having fun and learning through play.

Parents play a crucial role in our curriculum, from letting us know what their child can do, is interested in and what intrigues them. Daily communication with practitioners gives us up to date knowledge of the children we support. We also encourage parents to update their child’s ‘All About Me’ termly and invite them to our parents breakfast / parents evening each term.

Throughout the year we organise several events to involve parents and support learning in the home environment, including space day, Easter, home reading and room bears etc.

Our family support worker, Nicole, also supports parents and families who seek extra help and support in the home including sleep routines, behaviour management, eating, potty training and much more. Nicole is available during term time and offers home visits as part of her daily work within the nursery.

Parents play a key role in our planning methods, and are asked to share their child’s interests, needs and significant events/ experiences during the month to help support our teaching in nursery. This all helps to make your child’s learning journal unique and personal to them and you.

Children’s development is evaluated each term, and shared with parents during Parents breakfast/ Parents Evening, giving us opportunity to share your child’s achievements and targets for the term.
